ABOUT THIS REPORT

This is Tropicalia’s 14th Sustainability Report, covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024. It includes activities related to Tropicalia’s master plan, Fundación Tropicalia, and the communities impacted by its operations, primarily in Miches and its surrounding municipal districts.

The report follows globally recognized reporting frameworks, using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards as a reference, and, for the first time, we began reporting using the Sustainability Accounting Standard Board (SASB) disclosures for the Construction, and Engineering and Construction Services sectors. Additionally, we align with the United Nations Global Compact Principles, the Sustainable Development Goals, and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards. Together, these frameworks help define a roadmap that allows us to align our corporate objectives with the global sustainable development agenda.

The Vice President of Sustainability is part of the Sustainability Committee and serves as the editor-in-chief of the Sustainability Report. She ensures materiality, overseeing and approving all content before it is sent to the Executive Committee for approval. The CEO grants final approval of the Report’s content prior to publication.

UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT (UNGC)

In 2010, we joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and began aligning our business strategy with the 10 principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. Our commitment includes submitting progress reports in these areas through our Sustainability Report, first published in 2011. The reports communicate our business practices, corporate philosophy, and the impact of our work on the local community to stakeholders.

MATERIALITY

To prepare this Report, we conducted an analysis of Tropicalia’s sustainability context to identify potential material topics, as required by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Subsequently, we also conducted a digital survey (directed at different stakeholders) to value the topics for reporting.

The conclusions from these evaluations are reflected in our Materiality Matrix. This process provides continuity to the environmental and social review conducted by IDB Invest for the Four Seasons Tropicalia due diligence process (during which the International Finance Corporation-IFC Performance Standards were applied). Ultimately, this analysis helped us define the topics that should be prioritized in our sustainability management and our communications.

According to the analysis conducted and the Project’s current stage, the material topics are:

  • Regulatory Compliance and Anti-corruption
  • Water and Effluents
  • Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Labor Practices
  • Supply Chain Sustainability
  • Local Communities
  • Local Economic Contribution and Inclusive Development
  • Strategic Partnerships and Collaborative Destination Management
  • Biodiversity
  • Sustainable Construction and Design
  • Waste
